Product Risk Assessment
Performance testing is done with the aim of reducing the risk of substandard application performance. Hence the first step in preparing a performance test is determining the size of that risk. The Application Under Test is the Product. If the risk is zero or small, then conducting a performance test would be a waste of time and money.
In a risk assessment one balances possible threats and consequential impacts against the likelihood they may happen. Keeping our three risk area's in mind here are some aspects to consider.

- Number of users
Impact influencers:
- Mission critical application
- Number of users
- Big bang or gradual commissioning
